The Decision That Changed My Path in Software
I started working before graduating, but a decision about the kind of work I wanted mattered most.
I began programming while I was a student and worked on many graduation projects for students in Yemen and Saudi Arabia. At first, the number of projects felt like progress. Then I asked myself a harder question: was I helping students learn by completing their projects for them?
Stopping became a new beginning
I decided to leave that kind of work and focus on real systems and problems. While studying, I contributed to agricultural committee projects covering diesel, dairy, and project management. Later came the Dhabi marketplace and Pearl property site. At WideSpace, I grew into financial systems, integrations, APIs, and large reports.
What I learned
I did not wait until graduation to start working. I studied, worked, and built our Digital Agriculture graduation project with Zaid Mahdi. Today I measure progress by more than a project count. I want to understand the problem, describe my contribution honestly, and build software people can use and improve.
I am still early in the journey. Changing direction when you understand what matters to you can be more important than staying on a familiar path.
